Street Interview Producer & Performance Video Creator

Turn real conversations into video ads people want to watch. You’ll develop interview concepts, approach people on camera, shoot in busy public places, and edit the strongest moments into ads for oCommerce’s brands.

Role Overview

We’re building a street interview program across our portfolio of consumer brands. We’re looking for someone who can own the work from the first idea to the final edit: find an angle worth testing, write questions that lead to revealing answers, make strangers comfortable on camera, capture clean footage, and recognize the moment that makes an ad work. This is a hands-on role. Some days you’ll be developing concepts and editing footage; other days you’ll be on a city street approaching people, hearing “no,” and trying again. You should enjoy both parts. You can be based in a smaller city or college town within practical driving distance of a major filming market. The role involves scheduled trips to high-foot-traffic locations. We’ll agree on the filming market and travel expectations before a project begins. We’ll start with a paid interview and practical exercise, followed by a paid production gig for the selected candidate. Our goal is to convert the right person into a full-time role shortly afterward, based on the work and mutual fit. Examples of the Work - Watch these examples to understand the kind of street interview videos we want to explore: Example 1: NYC Street Interviews - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/4O6qj9JWNzE Example 2: Street interview reference - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/nCOMc7u3-7s Example 3: Street interview reference - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zDVC2OS8V1s We’re looking for someone who can take inspiration from the format and develop original concepts suited to our brands. The questions, people, and conversations should feel specific to the product and audience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop street interview concepts for brands with different products, audiences, and buying motivations.
  • Write opening questions and follow-ups that bring out specific stories, opinions, and natural reactions.
  • Scout locations and plan shoots around the audience each concept needs to reach.
  • Approach potential participants confidently and respectfully, explain the project clearly, and handle rejection without losing momentum.
  • Direct interviews while keeping the conversation spontaneous and the participant at ease.
  • Shoot footage with strong framing and clear audio in noisy, unpredictable environments.
  • Capture supporting footage and edit interviews into short video ads with effective openings, pacing, captions, and multiple variations.
  • Coordinate participant permissions and keep footage, releases, and project files organized.
  • Work with our creative and performance marketing teams to review results and improve the next round of concepts.
  • Manage a shoot from planning through delivery, including travel, equipment, footage backup, and deadlines.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A portfolio showing videos you personally helped conceive, shoot, and edit. Student projects, independent work, and professional projects are all welcome.
  • Comfort speaking with people you’ve never met and asking thoughtful follow-up questions.
  • Experience shooting interviews, documentary footage, social video, or other unscripted content.
  • Strong editing instincts for short video: you know how to find the compelling moment and get to it quickly.
  • Ability to capture usable dialogue and sound in public locations.
  • Reliability, organization, and the ability to work independently on location.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to an agreed filming market for scheduled shoots.
  • A film degree is welcome but not required. Experience with street interviews, documentary reporting, hosting, casting, or performance ad creative is a plus.

What we're looking for

  • Someone who can come back from a shoot with a story, not just a folder of clips.
  • Someone who is comfortable hearing “no” repeatedly while approaching the next person with the same energy.
  • Someone who listens closely enough to ask a better second question than the one they planned.
  • Someone who can spot the difference between a polished answer and a believable, memorable moment.
  • Someone curious about why a video earns attention and willing to test a different approach when it doesn’t.
  • Someone who can work across brands without making every interview sound or look the same.

What we offer

  • A paid interview process that lets you show how you work.
  • A paid initial production gig, with scope and compensation agreed before work begins.
  • A path to a full-time role if the project is a strong fit on both sides.
  • Creative ownership from concept through shoot and edit.
  • Direct collaboration with the teams running and measuring the ads.
  • Planned filming trips, with travel arrangements and expenses agreed in advance.
  • The chance to help build a new creative format across a growing portfolio of brands.

Our hiring process

  • Apply. Send your résumé or background, a portfolio link, and a brief note identifying which projects you personally conceived, shot, and edited.
  • Interview. We’ll discuss your work and give you a brand brief. During the interview, you’ll pitch a few street interview angles, explain whom you would approach, and talk through your questions and shoot plan.
  • Paid practical exercise. You’ll receive a defined brief, time limit, and fee before starting. After watching the examples above, you’ll develop three original interview angles and a short question set, then shoot and edit a brief interview with a willing participant. We’ll assess the concept, your rapport and follow-up questions, audio, edit, and how well the result fits the brand.
  • Paid production gig. The selected candidate will plan and deliver a real shoot for an oCommerce brand under an agreed project scope.
  • Full-time discussion. After the gig, we’ll review the work, collaboration, and role fit together and discuss a full-time offer.
  • Apply - Send your résumé or background, portfolio, current location, and the major city or cities you could reasonably travel to for shoots. Tell us about one interview you filmed—or one you wish you’d filmed—and the question that made it interesting.
